“When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross.” ~ Colosians 3:13-15 (The Message) Man, yesterday was quiet a day. After lunch, Dom, Jeff and I sat down and started talking about facebook, myspace, and you guys, the students. What started as as just some things that worried us on facebook soon unraveled into a large discussion of junk taking place in the the lives of the student community in Katy. Gossip, lying, drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, and all of the peer pressures that come with those things began flooding out as story after story of sin was brought forth. It burdened out hearts in a heavy way as we prepared for PULSE last night. And then, as PULSE was starting, and Dom started to share his lesson, something happened. No, God happened. As Dom shared about the redeeming power of Christ, and as we looked at the end of Colossians 1, God began moving in hearts all across the room. When you were given the chance to write out the sin in your life, you responded. I want you to know, as we read through the cards, and pray over them, you are not alone. So many of you listed the exact things mentioned earlier in this post. Lying, Cussing, Cheating, Drinking, Pornography. Know that today, you are being prayed for. Many of you took a stand last night and said “I will not be a slave to this sin anymore” and today when you woke up, that temptation or situation was staring you in the face. We are praying for you today. For courage. For boldness. For freedom. As Colosians 3:13-15 says above, you were incapable, but the God brought you to life. You’re sins have been forgiven, and the slate wiped clean. That sin has been nailed to the cross. Live today in the freedom that Christ offers. –Bryan |
